Top 5 Adds 11/11/2014

1. TV On the Radio- Seeds

2. Royksopp- The Inevitable End

3. Lena Fayre- Oko

4. Close Talker- Flux

5. Dolly Spartans- Self Titled

Had some great CD’s sent our way this past week. It was difficult coming up with a Top 5 Adds, however I think we did pretty good! One of my personal favorites is Royksopp. I’ve been jamming to his song Monument featuring Robyn for the past month, so I was excited to see that we received the album. As expected, TV On the Radio’s album is amazing! Their song Happy Idiot has been playing everywhere and has gotten them some great success so far. The rest of their songs on the album are just as great and will keep launching them into fame. Newcomers Lena Fayre, Close Talker, and Dolly Spartans definitely caught my ears’ attention. Lena has a sultry, powerful voice and such poppy/catchy songs. Close Talker has a great indie rock sound with some wonderful tracks on their album. And last but not least the Dolly Spartans come in with their garage rock, Jack White sound to round off our Top 5. Don’t be surprised to see all five of these artists on our Top 30 next week!

As expected OK GO’s new album, Hungry Ghosts shot right up to the top in our charts this past week. Expecting this one to stay at the top for awhile with their catchy tunes. The Left Ready took our number one spot this week. These guys have been slowly climbing our charts and have finally peaked at the top. We had a chance to interview the band this week and will be posting up a podcast of it on our website soon! Our rock guys have been spinning Royal Blood, Lotus Effect, Rise Against, and The Heroes Lie like crazy. These four bands will be sticking around for awhile! New to our list we have some electronic bands: Meiko, Mansions on the Moon, Loveskills, and Flight Facilities. We also added a couple new rock albums: James Williamson and Francisco the Man! This next week it will be interesting to see if the Left Ready can keep their lead above OK GO!

Trunk or Treat

KMSC Dragon Radio took part in Trunk or Treat last October 30th. A special thanks to Station Director Kate Hildahl, DJ Jake Antolak, and DJ Tyrel Filley for dressing up as the Scooby gang, and helping dish out Scooby-Doo fruit snacks to all the kids who showed up.

More pictures from the event will be uploaded tomorrow evening.

The biggest add to our Top 30 this week is definitely Ok Go’s new album- Hungry Ghosts. It’s already been seeing a bunch of plays this week and last week. I expect this one to jump into our Top 10 for sure this next week. Newcomers Broods as expected has taken a leap on our charts to number 4, with The Growlers, La Roux, and The Orwells still staying strong at our top.
